Are you a female graduate holding a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, driven by passion for your studies? You may be eligible for a scholarship to pursue a master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics at a top-tier university in the UK.
For the fourth consecutive year, the British Council is introducing our international Women in STEM scholarship initiative in collaboration with esteemed UK universities. This marks the fourth year of offering scholarships to women hailing from specific countries in South Asia. We seek women with STEM backgrounds who can exhibit their financial need and aspire to motivate forthcoming generations of women to embark on STEM careers.
Why British Council Scholarship for Women in STEM?
As per UNESCO data, less than 30 percent of researchers globally are women, and merely 30 percent of female students opt for STEM disciplines in higher education.
On a global scale, female student enrollment remains notably low in Information and Communications Technology (three percent), natural sciences, mathematics, and statistics (five percent), as well as engineering, manufacturing, and construction (eight percent).
Empowering more women through education, training, and employment in STEM fields can result in improved scientific and financial outcomes. This approach fosters diversity in the workforce, introduces a breadth of perspectives and ideas, and grants organizations a competitive advantage.
